The Chinese multinational telecommunications manufacturer ‘Huawei’ has officially bridged the gap between cell phone and tablet with the introduction of their newest release, the Huawei Mate X. The Mate X’s features an innovative folding design that allows it to be used to perform everyday smartphone tasks or be unfolded to reveal a larger screen for entertainment or multitasking.
How is it designed: The foldable smartphone reveals its 8-inch screen when completely open, providing twice the viewing area of a standard phone. With its foldable display and soft screen, it’s capable of bending and still maintaining its beautiful display. Its sleek design gives it a flat and smooth finish while providing durability that prevents the screen from stretching or bulging during folding or unfolding.

It also has two batteries giving it 4,500mAh, compared to the standard 2,500 – 3,000 mAh in most phones- giving you unparalleled battery life. The Mate X also has 512GB storage and supports expandable storage via Nano-Memory, Huawei’s proprietary storage card that goes up to 256GB. The Mate X will cost €2,299, which converts to about $2,600 USD with 512GB of internal storage and 8GB of RAM, and Huawei has hinted there will be other variants down the line.
