A biologist at Aberystwyth University had this to say on a method to reduce the spread of bacteria:
“If the general public could be encouraged to fist bump, there is genuine potential to reduce the spread of infectious diseases…”
A study conducted found that bumping fists instead of shaking hands transfers 90% less bacteria. Shaking hands is commonplace, a sign of respect, and also something people don’t think can really affect their health.
Also safe to a degree is the good old ‘high five’. The universal symbol of “Alright!” transfers 50% less bacteria than a handshake.
Through science, we can finally get rid of the stiff and antiquated handshake, and enter the era of the super chill fist bump. Pound it, brah. Know more.
