I remember watching the Power Rangers as a little boy. I wanted nothing more than to dress up in a tight, primary-colored suit and mask and fight poorly animated bad guys. Well, if you want to fight like a Mighty Morphin Power Ranger and you live in Southern California, you can take jiu jitsu classes from the one and only Red Ranger, Steve Cardenas, at his Burbank Studio. My cousin actually trained at his gym and Cardenas had the Red Ranger suit and mask proudly displayed.
Cardenas is a Brazilian jiu jitsu black-belt and can whoop some ass. He holds multiple martial arts titles, “including two Silver Medals at Copa Pacifica (2009 and 2011), Gold Medal winner of the 2009 American National Championship, Gold Medal in the 2010 Jiu-Jitsu Pro Gear Open, and Silver Medal in the 2010 No-Gi World Championships.” If you’re interested in kicking ass like Cardenas, check out this article here.
There’s no doubt about it, Cardenas is badass, just like the upcoming Power Rangers movie that will hit theaters in the summer of 2016. Like its fellow 90s TV show Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Power Rangers will be getting rebooted to the big screen. I can’t wait!
