New York recently became the 23rd state to legalize medical marijuana. It wasn’t because a bunch of stoners kept blaring Jefferson Airplane outside of City Hall; rather, one mother, Missy Miller, persisted and rallied for legalization to help her son. Oliver, her 14 year old son, suffered a stroke in utero, which resulted in a brain stem injury. Missy did her research and found that certain strains of marijuana curb seizures in children.
Missy has devoted a lot of years fighting to legalize marijuana in New York. With the recent passing of the law, Missy can now obtain the right strains of marijuana to help her son. If the law had not been passed, Missy had no clue how long Oliver would cling to life. Hopefully Oliver hangs on for longer now that his seizures can be avoided, or at least dampened. Know more.
